Models Have Decided Books Are The Must-Have Fashion Accessories Of 2019 (Reading Not Required)
I fucking loveeeeeee it. Bracelets are OUT. Handbags are OUT. Books though? Books are so fucking in right now.
NYP - Bella and Gigi are more than just pretty faces. After all, the supermodel siblings have both been recently photographed carrying books. Books! You know, those antiquated, analog vessels of information usually associated with smart people, like Emma Watson.
And like true supermodels, the gals know how to coordinate their outfits to their new brainy accessories.
Bella has shared a photo of the cherry-red “Outsider” book cover alongside a cherry-printed vintage Louis Vuitton bag and has ditched her usual desperately trend-chasing threads for slouchy gray suits and low-key white sneaks.
So fucking funny. These models carrying around books not to read, but as fashion accessories. It could not be more perfect. This is why the aliens don’t even care enough to come and abduct us. We are just a bunch of Derek Zoolanders to them. They come down and watch us blow each other up for senseless reasons like religion and then go back to their home planets and report on us the same way we watch a bunch of ants in an ant farm. I’m sure every once in a while an alien will in fact scoop one of us up and take us back for research purposes, just so they can write in their alien medical journals how un-advanced we are as a society. “The humans of Earth no longer wish to even learn, they just want to appear smart by carrying books with them, as long as the cover matches their sequined blouse of the day”.
And if you think that article is exaggerating, they are literally making sure books are seen in all the pictures they are taking. It’s so great. I could not be happier this is a thing.
So you better believe it, I’m all in on books being accessories now. Reading is OUT, but carrying a book around for show and making sure it matches your outfit is IN. You better believe that you’re gonna see me at the bar this weekend watching March Madness games….holding a copy of The Giver.
